Scavenger Trail
FAQs
Do you have a question? We've put together answers to some common questions.
We're helping people explore more of the local area by creating a series of Scavenger Trails.
You'll learn about the local area, find hidden gems and are sure to have fun along the way. The trails are suitable for people of all ages. All you need is your phone and a sense of adventure!
Each trail has a series of clues that will take you from one point to the next.

1. Upload selfies and answer multiple choice questions based on your surroundings, so pay attention!
2. Answer questions correctly and you'll score points along the way.
3. Each clue has a countdown timer, so make sure you think quick!
4. Hints area available (for use only if needed!)
5. Maps showing your progress are provided, so you can make sure you're on track.
7. The end point will reveal your total score!
The trails vary in terms of duration and each depend on how long it takes you to get from point to point. The trail details will display the approximate duration.
Just note that there are timers for individual clues throughout the trails - so keep an eye on them!
To access trails:
1. Select the trail you want to do.
2. Sign-up or login to the website.
3. Make payment (if applicable).
4. You'll then receive an email with a link that will lead you to the start of the chosen trail.
There are some free, fast and easy trails we've created as well as paid trails. Just go to the Trails page to view the costs.
You'll get 1 week to complete a trail. You can start whenever you like!
The trails are designed to be completed on relatively easy-to-walk paths (without strenuous hills!) Surfaces include paved paths, grass, gravel and some narrow sandy trails. Some trails are close to the ocean and rivers - so be mindful of any extreme weather events, floods or unusually high tides.
When you've started a trail, individual clues are timed. If you run out of time, you'll be notified and it will simply take you to the next clue (1 point will be lost).
Trail pausing can take place when an information screen displays. These information screens display facts about the trail and have no timer. When you're ready to continue, select 'Next Clue'.
Plus - a 'break' screen will be shown approximately half way on longer trails, allowing you to stop and catch your breath!
If for some reason your phone reloads the page, crashes, or you lose connection, just click on the link in your email once more. You will need to go through the answers a second time to make it back to where you are.
Similarly, if you see an 'offline' message when completing the trail, your phone may have been idle for some time and has lost its internet connection. It should reconnect automatically. Avoid refreshing the page as the trail will reload from the starting point. You may need to move to an area where the connection restores.
If it doesn't, you may need to click on the link in your email once more to reload the trail. You will need to go through the answers a second time to make it back to where you are.
